A Prophet's Burning Wings

Introducing Amon, one of the Seven Unholy Princes of hell (from my Purgatory story, which I have started working on again finally!).

This was initially inspired by a poster of Hellsing I saw recently, where Alucard's hair is swirling quite madly. I don't know why it made me connect with Amon, but there we are. I partially blame the fact that ever since I wrote the first draft of Purgatory I've had Asmodeus's voice stuck in my head >.o (I do this with characters a lot, especially if they have a distinctive voice).

Anyway. To explain what's actually happening.
The idea I had for this was him after just falling from Angel to Demon; thus the positioning of his hands, as he's kind of reflecting over himself and rediscovering himself.
I've also got a huge amount going on with the wings, symbolism wise. I decided that if this was going to be him just after falling I wanted to show some kind of sign that he had once been angelic, and thus went with the idea of wings. but obviously I couldn't just have feathery fluff behind him. So I considered them burning or decomposing in some way. Eventually I came up with the idea of it looking like torn paper falling away fro him or burning, because as he's considered the False Prophet (and in my head prophecies link to paper because one would assume they'd be written down) I had this idea of pages shredding around him. Also because of this diea of False-ness and the idea of him rejecting the Angelic way and religion, it made sense to me.
(I'm really not explaining myself well today, at all >.o)

I was orignally going to colour this, but after putting so much detail into the line work I decided against it; but more is not always more, if you get my meaning. maybe at a later date I'll print a version out and colour that, but as it is I have no ink in my printer so I can't do that.

ps. I do realise I got completeeeely carried away with the hair. but that happens a lot in my drawings >.> The detail zombie comes out to take over my hands.
